Your Ceremony at Pauntley Court
Church Ceremonies
Just a stone’s throw from saying ‘I Do’...
We are fortunate to be able to provide you with various ceremony location choices here at Pauntley Court, including our charming Norman Church, St John the Evangelist. The perfect fusion of history and romance, Pauntley Church can comfortably seat up to 100 of your friends and family.
This 800-year-old building is on the very doorstep of the Main House, overlooking the Leadon Valley and neighbouring countryside. Spend the morning of your wedding day getting ready in one of our delightful bedrooms at Pauntley Court before enjoying a short stroll through a private gate in the gardens, where you’ll find the church waiting for you.
Mark and Melissa, the owners of Pauntley Court, married at this very church in October 1996, while all three of their children have also been christened here. Available for traditional religious ceremonies and blessings, Derek and Sue are the church wardens and are renowned for their warm, personable approach. If you would like to find out more, they welcome you to email them at pauntleychurch@yahoo.com. Our Reverend, Kat, and the wardens adore getting to know the couples who connect with Pauntley Church.
“At Pauntley church we love welcoming couples to be married in our ancient building - where couples have been married since Norman times . We enjoy working closely with Pauntley Court to ensure a wonderful day for our couples.
Many of our couple don't live in the area and we love getting to know them as they establish a legal connection with our church by attending services prior to their wedding. This means that couples getting married in the church feel like it is their spiritual home and many form a strong connection with our building and our congregation.” - Reverend Kat Mepham
If you are not a part of the parish of Pauntley, you can still get married here by attending the church once a month for six months in the lead up to your special day – something we do encourage our couples to do if you have your heart set on a religious ceremony. It is also a lovely way to get to know the church and feel part of the local community which forms the wonderful atmosphere of the Parish of Pauntley. We do also have two nearby churches, Redmarley and Dymock.
With its unrivalled views and historic connection with Dick Whittington, Lord Mayor of London four times over, (who was presumably baptised here), Pauntley Church promises a truly beautiful and magical place to get married. This ancient building is well known for its south doorway of the Dymock school of carving, while its stained-glass windows and traditional pews provide you with an intimate setting for your ceremony.
Offering our beloved family home and onsite church, our team at Pauntley Court want nothing more than to provide you with the day of your dreams, and we will always go the extra mile to do so. The connection between Pauntley Court and the Church at Pauntley, is hugely historic and you can be part of that history with a very special Church Wedding for you, your family and friends to remember.

If the weather is good, we are so excited that you are now able to be married outside at Pauntley Court and we have three beautiful lawns where you can have your outdoor civil ceremony; the Quince Orchard, the Ceremony Lawn and underneath our Tentickle Stretch Tent. All of these areas have incredible views through the hornbeam arches and down to the lake and across the rolling Gloucestershire farmland beyond. Melissa will be able to show the different options when you come to Pauntley for your viewing.

We booked Pauntley Court for our intimate wedding weekend in June 2022 and we regret nothing! The venue is beyond beautiful with lovely, well-kept gardens. The rooms are also very impressive, all individually decorated with their own character. All our guests commented throughout the wedding and since returning home about how lovely the venue was. Unfortunately, we weren't able to have our wedding outside as planned, thanks to the great British weather, but the team at Pauntley were so responsive, attentive and caring about swapping round our decorations to move us inside. We want to make a special mention to Rachel, who helped us throughout the weekend to keep the house clean and tidy and also cooked us an amazing breakfast on the Sunday morning. Also, a big thank you to Rebecca and Melissa who were also fantastic, ensuring our day was perfect throughout. If you want a unique wedding venue, that no one will forget, book Pauntley court!
